Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

via Telehealth

At Kindred Hearts Healing Counseling, I offer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build resilience and live more fully, even in the face of life’s challenges. As a licensed clinical social worker, Kendra Richardson, LCSW, I use ACT to support clients in developing mindfulness, self-compassion, and values-based action so they can create lives that feel meaningful and authentic.

All ACT sessions are conducted via secure telehealth, making it easy to access professional care from the privacy and comfort of your home.

How ACT Works

ACT is based on the idea that trying to control or avoid painful thoughts and emotions often makes them stronger. Instead, ACT helps you:

  • Accept your inner experiences, rather than struggling against them

  • Defuse from unhelpful thoughts so they no longer dictate your behavior

  • Stay present with mindfulness practices that reduce stress and increase clarity

  • Recognize yourself as more than your thoughts or feelings

  • Clarify your values—the things that truly matter to you

  • Take committed action aligned with those values, even when life feels difficult

The goal isn’t to erase discomfort, but to give you the tools and perspective to live a meaningful life alongside it.

What ACT Can Help With

ACT has been shown to be effective for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Trauma recovery and post-traumatic stress

  • Stress, overwhelm, and burnout

  • Grief and loss

  • Life transitions and identity exploration

  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism

Benefits of ACT via Telehealth

Through telehealth sessions at Kindred Hearts Healing Counseling, ACT becomes accessible and flexible, while maintaining the same depth of connection as in-person care. Benefits include:

  • Meeting from the comfort of your own environment

  • Flexibility to fit sessions into your routine

  • Consistent access to care no matter where you are in Florida (or other licensed states)

Secure and private HIPAA-compliant sessions
